Bank Holiday

It's delightful how a little bit of rain can annoy people to the point of anger -- especially when it's a bank holiday and it

confines them indoors on their one day off from work. Add to the mix the TV, the kids screaming and the washing machine on and you've got a recipe for trouble. Some dads go off to the pub where the noise levels --talking, shouting, jukebox, TV and slot machines -- might be lower than at home but they are at least comforting. No one at the pub is going to say "Since you've got the day off, would you mind just fixing the bathroom tap / taking the plastics to the dump / putting an axe through your mother's skull?"

As the year progresses it will ease -- kids will play outside, families can go together to pubs and sit in the gardens -- many pubs now have a children's play area to encourage children to beg their parents to take them to the pub instead of the council park where the facilities aren't as good. For now, though, a rainy bank holiday means cinema trips, DIY and Garden centre visits and some honest-to-God blasphemy.

I took a jaunt around the town today and was surprised by the number of shops open. Don't they know it's a bank holiday? I'm tempted to propose a trip to the seaside.Thorney Island, perhaps, which is about an hour away by car. There's absolutely nothing there.

Nothing but rain, anyway.

Not at all. I delight in the misery of mortals :)

Sounds like a perfect recipe for a few contracts if you ask me.
